The Flint Symphony Orchestra enjoys a rich 91-year history of outstanding concerts, standing ovations and performances the community has come to love and appreciate.
The orchestra performs a variety of concerts throughout the year:
Classical Concerts - Six concerts are held from October through April.
Holiday Pops - This musical extravaganza presented by the Flint Journal and ABC12, celebrates the spirit of the holidays. Featuring the Flint Symphony Orchestra, Flint Festival Chorus, Flint Jubilee Chorale and others. Held at The Whiting the third weekend of December.
Nutcracker - The FSO performs the music for this timeless holiday classic at The Whiting, with dancers from Collage Dance Collective and the Flint School of the Performing Arts.
Music in the Parks - The symphony also takes part in this summer concert series held outdoors during the summer months at city and county parks.
The Orchestra - For more than 20 years, the FSO has had Music Director and Conductor, Maestro Enrique Diemecke at its helm. He is Music Director and Conductor of the Long Beach Symphony (CA) and the Buenos Aires Philharmonic at the Teatro Colon as well as guest conducting with orchestras around the world. And during that time he has developed a rapport with both audiences and musicians that is nothing less than extraordinary. Through his outstanding leadership and musical excellence, the FSO and Maestro Diemecke have developed a strong and loyal following throughout southeastern Michigan rivaled by few other orchestras its size.
